Parkway Lanes

The Bowling alley at the Holiday Inn might just have the worst customer service in St. Catharines. My nephew left his toy cars there after we went bowling as a family on a Sunday afternoon. We called the alley as soon as we got home. The person who picked up the phone said he was going to put them aside for us to pick up. Great!

When I went to pick them up the manager told me that he didn't see them. When I asked if he could continue to look for them because I was told they'd be left here for me to pick up and I didn't understand how they could be missing if they were put aside for me to pick up. He began to shout at me saying "Lady - what do you want me to do? I don't see them." I was appalled. I didn't even know how to react because I've never been yelled at like that before. When I asked to speak to someone else he said he was the manager and was in charge. I insisted there must be someone. Finally he called the owner who was in the building.

When I explained what had just happened, the owner justified the manager's actions by saying "he's been here for a long time, he's a good guy." I asked what they could do for me as I didn't live in town and I felt like I had been verbally abused by his manager. Apparently the manager takes leadership direction from the owner because the owner replied with "Nothing - I need to look into it and I'll get back to you."

It's disappointing because the Holiday Inn usually has excellent customer service and a quality reputation. The Holiday Inn would have never let a customer who was unhappy leave it's property until the problem was solved and an apology was issued. It's unfortunate that two individuals who are in charge of the bowling alley located in the hotel clearly have no respect for women.
